News: A list of prohibited medicines will be developed for drivers.

Key changes:
State Duma deputies approved in the first reading bill No. 379447-8, which introduces administrative liability for drivers who are driving under the influence of drugs that impair reaction and attention.

 

What is prohibited?

In addition to alcohol and narcotic drugs, restrictions may include:

Painkillers (anesthetics)

Antiepileptic and antiparkinsonian drugs

Sleeping pills and sedatives

Important! We are talking only about drugs that cause clinical signs of intoxication (lethargy, decreased concentration). The final list will be approved by the Government of the Russian Federation.

 

What is the threat to drivers?

Fines (amount to be specified)

Deprivation of rights (similar to alcohol intoxication)

Medical examination (similar to alcohol/drug testing)

 

When will the law come into force?

90 days after the official publication, if the draft is accepted in the final reading.

 

Why is this important?

Road safety: Many medications (such as strong analgesics or tranquilizers) can slow down reactions in the same way as alcohol.
Legal clarity: Drivers will need to check the medication instructions before traveling.
🔹 The role of pharmaceutical companies: Manufacturers should consider labeling such drugs with warnings in advance.

Tips for drivers

✔ Read the instructions in the sections "Side effects" and "Special instructions".
 Consult your doctor – if the drug may affect concentration, specify when you can get behind the wheel.
 Alternatives – for example, replace sedatives with herbal remedies (if there are no contraindications).
